Education, Conservation and Observation (ECO)
We are Canada’s oldest bird conservation charity!
In 2017 we are proudly celebrating 100 years of working to protect birds and their habitats.
WHAT WE DO
Take part in education and conservation awareness initiatives.
This summer the education committee provided funding for teens to attend a one week bird banding camp at Tadoussac.
Weekly guided Field Trips
We’ve been leading field trips and teaching the community about nature, birds and conservation since our founding in 1917!
Regular monthly meetings featuring a variety of speakers.
Another long held tradition, monthly lectures have been taking place since 1917.
We own and manage Sanctuaries and Nature Reserves throughout the province of Quebec.
in 1937, we acquired our first sanctuary, Île aux Perroquets. Charitable donations and membership fees fund our bird sanctuaries.
Promote and fund Scientific Research
In 2017 Observatoire d’oiseaux de Tadoussac (OOT) was awarded a $60,000 BPQ grant for its ongoing major research program and the implementation of a novel tracking method of a species at risk. Read the press release.
